Updating the mysql/mariadb server may cause Plesk to raise an error in its UI stating that it cannot connect to the database server. Ordinarily, the database server restarts after update and the error is transient. This error may occur whether the database server update is done by Imunify QuickPatch+, the Onyx System Updates Manager, or manually using the server command line. Error messages displayed in the Plesk UI include:

ERROR: PleskDBException: Unable to connect to database: mysql_connect(): No such file or directory /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock (Error code: 2002). Please check that database server is started and accessible

ERROR: Zend_Db_Adapter_Exception: SQLSTATE[HY000] [2002] No such file or directory

CentOS 6.4 32-bit: after updating a large number of packages Imunify QuickPatch+ may initially report that the selected vulnerabilities are not fixed; however, after ~10 minutes they are shown in the extension UI as fixed. This appears to be a problem with the Python yum module on this particular OS not promptly reflecting the package updates.
